The Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® can be your go-to card for earning the miles you need for your travels. From earning 6x AAdvantage® miles per dollar spent on eligible AAdvantage® hotel bookings to receiving four Admirals Club® GlobeTM Passes every calendar year, the Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® offers diverse benefits to help you make the most of your spending.
One of the card’s key benefits is that it does not charge foreign transaction fees (see pricing info), which makes it suitable for traveling abroad. Let’s discuss foreign transaction fees and why this makes the Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® helpful.
What are foreign transaction fees?
Foreign transaction fees are charges that a financial institution may add to a transaction that you make in a foreign country or when you make an online purchase and the vendor uses a different currency.
Foreign transaction fees differ from currency conversion fees, which occur when a foreign merchant converts your purchase into your home currency before you make the transaction. Currency conversion is sometimes optional, and you may be able to avoid these fees by choosing to pay in the foreign currency.
Since the Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees (see pricing info), you don’t have to worry about extra charges on foreign purchases made when you’re traveling. In addition to great benefits like earning 2x AAdvantage® miles on purchases at restaurants and earning up to $30 in statement credits for each eligible Turo trip that’s completed for a total of up to $240 in statement credit annually, you can feel better about spending money abroad and avoiding foreign transaction fees.
